Elena North here.
Let me continue the story about my descendants,
who struggled to live in a post-apocalyptic world.
Of course it was especially hard for the children born into this catastrophic situation.
It was not their fault, but they grew up in a very different world
than that which I had known as a child.
We tried to remind the kids of the „good old times“ we used to know,
by telling them old tales and acting these out with the help of the dollhouse.
But in the first time after the disaster, most modern parenting techniques
had been forgotten, they were not inmportant anymore:
solely to feed and shield the kids from zombies was hard enough.
To even educate them and forge them into responsible and respectful civils,
was almost too hard a task for a parent after the Apocalypse.
You surely remember my granddaughter Marina who had three boys.
Christian, Marvin, and Enrico.
We already heard about the former two.
Now let me tell you about Enrico.
As a toddler, for most of the time he was a screaming, stinky, frustrated little monster…
… just like the other two.
But Marina and Akira still loved their little ones to the moon and back.
Both Marina and Akira were glad when the toddler boys grew up into schoolkids,
and finally slept the nights through.
The dollhouse sometimes suffered from a tantrum,
but was always repaired by a patient parent.
Time just flew by and before we really knew it, the boys were teenagers.
And we will forever regret not having taken pictures.
Enrico took an afternoon job as a babysitter.
He cared for the babies in the neighborhood
and watched over them to be fed, happy, and safe from zombies,
while the parents were busy with other things: cooking, cleaning,
doing laundry, or just play a video game or
spend some time with their beloved ones.
Enrico’s talent with the tots and babies soon was the talk of town.
His loving, but disciplined education methods were soon caught up by the parents
and imitated, and the parents became capable of handling their little ones again,
accompany them in their growth and forge them into little angels (or devils!).
And almost without us taking notice of their teenager years,
our three bouncing boys grew into adults.
And Enrico fell in love with Victoria Winchester.
Victoria moved in with us.
Christian and Marvin were following their „missions“ of video games and mixing drinks,
all the while Enrico slept nap after nap.
He had the feeling that just by bringing back good parenting techniques to Glassbolt
as a teenage babysitter, he had already accomplishec his „mission“ here.
He had no further goals in life, except having a family of his own.
But Victoria was very hesitant to this.
She knew there was no proper anticeptive method,
and she was possessed by the burning desire to bring back clean water
and medical care to Glassbolt.
That’s why she was writing her blog „SOS Glassbolt“.
But for a very long time, no one inmportant ever clicked her blog.
So Enrico napped. And dreamed about kids of his own.
His relationship with Victoria was deep and true…
but once and again she told him „let’s wait with woohoo and kids“.
It was very hard for Enrico. Night after night at his dreamgirl’s side,
and not being able to touch her.
At least he sometimes won against her, playing chess.
„I DO love you. But we have to wait.
Kids have to be bathed frequently to be happy…
we NEED medical care and fresh clean water to raise kids…“
Nap after nap at his beloved’s side…
Victoria’s blog got clicked,
and her most important article got shared on
It soon went viral.
Aid organizations jumped into action.
The ruined sewage was quickly repaired,
and soon there was fresh, clean water in Glassbolt again.
Finally they could bathe and shower.
After the first shower of his life, Enrico felt like a new man.
And asked Victoria the „important question“.
To which she of course answered „YES!“
And soon after their wedding night, she was pregnant.
But you already knew all of this?
Well, let me tell you a bit about these Apoca-kids.
Victoria’s pregnancy went well…
Enrico slept through most of it, dreaming of the family he’d soon have.
Victoria gave birth to a healthy boy.
Baby Marco was his parent’s
pride and joy…
… especially Enrico’s.
And to his great joy,
Victoria soon gave him another happy news.
They would get another baby!
Soon Victoria’s belly was rounding again.
In the meanwhile, Marco had grown into a sweet toddler…
… who got all momma’s love a boy could ever get.
„Sleep well, my darling! Dream of daffodils!“
Victoria’s second child was a sweet daughter
they named Eva.
Soon she also was a toddler.
Of course they grew up in a bunker in the middle of a destroyed world,
but still they got a childhood full of love and playtime.
They grew into schoolkids…
Marco and Eva enjoyed what the generations before them had restored in Glassbolt… fresh, free flowing water… tasty food…
As everyone aged, also Enrico grew old and grey…
Victoria loved treating herself with a nice cocktail at the end of the day.
Victoria grew grey as well…
Marco and Eva became teenagers and then young adults…
Then Enrico died of old age.
Victoria was very long-lived and even lived to see her grandchildren grow…
but that is a different story.
Puuuuuuh, that was a lot to tell now.
I need a pause and some recreation in nature.
I will soon be back to tell you more.
Until then I remain,
