Elena North here,
continuing the story about my descendants,
which struggled to live in a post-apocalyptic world.
Yes, I am fresh and clean,
but for a very long time,
my descendants quite never were.
But let me introduce you to the woman you see here in the background.
This woman is Victoria Winchester.
She, like me, came from the WonderChild project,
and was sent to join our family by becoming wife of a male heir.
It was soon clear that she’d be with Enrico, one of my great-grandchildren.
So Victoria came to live with us, first without being officially married to Enrico.
Victoria is a woman you just have to like…
she is ambitious, good, and cheerful.
And she is a master at cooking.
Nevertheless, when it came to looking for „her mission“ in Glassbolt,
it was very obvious to her she’d try to send an emergency call for help with hygiene.
Many hours were spent on the computer,
writing down everything about the current situation
and what people around town told her.
It all served as evidence for her articles in her blog.
But no one seemed to visit her blog,
and her articles didn’t get read yet.
Fun was hard to find, but Victoria enjoyed paging through the old books we had.
Other than reading, she also liked playing chess,
the family pastime.
Everybody was enthusiastic about her cooking skills.
She cooked wonderful food,
and always saw to it that it contained enough of it’s own juice…
which was important,
because there was not even a drop of water safe to drink in Glassbolt.
Only the liquid locked in fresh food (coming from regions nearby) seemed to be safe.
Being stinky was what she hated most.
So she dedicated her time to try to find a solution.
We needed someone to repair the broken sewage and restore clean running water…
… and we needed medical care, medicine and hygiene products.
Victoria also willingly accepted to be the main cleaner of the house…
Her love to Enrico continued to grow.
She spent many hours in front of the computer,
and gathering evidence from people around town.
Victoria and Enrico both slept in the same bed, as a couple, but not married… not yet.
And they often played chess together.
Victoria continued to make yummy, juicy food…
… and was not too fine to scrub the toilet.
Chess continued to be her major source of fun and enjoyment…
… as writing so many articles was wearing her out sometimes.
She and Enrico shared a deep love and understanding.
Playing chess with Marvin…
… to emotionally balance the big lot of work…
Interviewing people out on the street…
Napping beside Enrico, she found calm…
A few splashes of water had to do to clean her hands every now and then…
Playing chess with Marvin…
And then, one day, suddenly,
Victoria had her breakthrough.
Someone clicked on her blog, saw the evidence,
and shared it on social media.
The images and texts soon went viral.
Medical trucks were sent to Glassbolt,
and the faulty sewage repaired in a few weeks.
All of a sudden,
GLASSBOLT HAD CLEAN(ISH) WATER AGAIN!
Finally Victoria (and also all my descendants)
could wash themselves properly.
After the first shower of his life,
Enrico felt like a new man.
He felt so good he approached Victoria:
„I’ve got some question for you…“
„Can we go outside the house?“
„Victoria, will you marry me?“
„Of course, yes!
And they took their vows right there outside the shelter’s front door.
Only a few days after their wedding night,
Victoria approached Enrico with a huge smile.
„Enrico, I’ve got some great news for you.
You know, the trucks bringing medical supplies…
… well, I took a pregnancy test from them and did it this morning…
and what should I say, I’m POSITIVE!
WE ARE HAVING A BABY!“
So, the story continues…
and I’ll soon go on counting.
But I’ve noticed my favorite TV show starts in a minute.
So let me leave you off here now –
I’ll be back right afterwards,
telling you more about my great-grandchildren’s life.
Until then I remain,
